Resolution

153rd Czech Rectors Conference Plenum Meeting

Prague, 5 December 2019 PDF

Czech Rectors Conference (CRC) Plenum adopted at its 153rd Meeting the following resolution:

  1. CRC members were acquainted with the settlement of comments on the Higher Education Act amendment; in the future, the CRC asks legislators for sufficient time to comment.
  2. CRC is concerned about the escalation of the Hong Kong conflict. We understand and support the struggle of Hong Kong students for the preservation of democratic rights and freedoms, and we are convinced that the escalated situation can be resolved in a non-violent way only. We emphasize that university as a forum of free debate has been traditionally autonomous in democratic societies, which should be respected by all actors. Violence has no place at universities, it is necessary to open a space for dialogue, clarify opposing positions, and prevent further escalation of the conflict, which could have tragic consequences.
  3. CRC proposes rector of the University of Hradec Králové, Prof. Kamil Kuča, and rector of Mendel University in Brno, Prof. Danuše Nerudová, as its representatives in the Research, Development and Innovation Council.
  4. CRC draws attention to the need of equal participation of higher education institutions located in Prague in JAN AMOS KOMENSKY Operational Programme for the period 2021-2027.
  5. CRC supports the announcement of specific grant calls for financing the construction and reconstruction of university sports facilities.
