Resolution

Czech Rectors Conference (CRC) Plenum adopted at its 149th Meeting, CRC Annual Assembly, the following resolution:

1. CRC approves the following internal documents: CRC economic activities revision report for 2018, Annual Report of CRC activities in 2018, CRC budget for 2019, CRC operational costs compensation rules for 2019.
2. CRC takes into account the information provided by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports on the planned increase in the budget of higher education institutions for 2020, draws attention to the long-term under-financing of Czech higher education institutions and calls for an increase of CZK 1.5 billion compared to 2019.
3. CRC expresses serious concern about the activities of the Department of the Research, Development and Innovation Council of the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic in the field of research organizations evaluation. CRC observes a distinct lack of communication with the Department’s leadership.
4. CRC supports the proposal of the membership of Prof. Dr. Jan Jirák in the Czech Radio Council, submitted to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic by the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, Masaryk University and Charles University. Professor Jirák has the support of CRC as a politically independent candidate with great professional erudition.
5. CRC joins the "Universities Vote for Europe" initiative of the Austrian Rectors Conference.
6. CRC supports the statement and action of Charles University in the dispute with the President of the Czech Republic concerning appointment of professors. CRC refuses such interfering in the autonomy of higher education institutions as well as the non-compliance with the law.
