Statement

Czech higher education institutions carefully observe the course of events arising from the wave of immigration to Europe in recent days and are prepared to help in a range of domains.

At the meeting of representatives of the Czech Rectors Conference Presidium with the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Dr. Kateřina Valachová, the Minister was informed about actions that the Czech higher education institutions had taken and planned to take in order to effectively contribute not only to the direct easing of suffering of refugees through providing psychologists, interpreters, and other necessary professionals, but also, within a long-range period of time, to social integration of the refugees who would decide to stay in the Czech Republic, including preparing children and youth for their entry to the Czech educational system, e.g. with organizing language and other courses.
