Resolution
of the Czech Rectors Conference Extraordinary Meeting
Czech Rectors Conference (CRC) adopted at its extraordinary meeting the following resolution:
CRC is indignant about the action of the Government of the Czech Republic, which has not yet been able to find resources for higher education institutions budget increase for the following years. The increased funding of higher education institutions is necessary to ensure high quality of education, especially wage conditions of higher education teachers as well as decent living conditions of doctoral students.
As a form of protest against the government action, CRC announces the event “TÝDEN PRO VZDĚLANOST“ (The Week for Education) from October 2 to October 6, 2017. Higher education institutions are going to manifest their dissatisfaction vigorously during the event.
We protest against the alarming fact that government spending on public higher education institutions in relation to GDP has been steadily decreasing in recent years and that the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports spending on educational activities of public higher education institutions is currently lower than in the years 2006 to 2011!
High-quality higher education institutions are nevertheless a prerequisite for future competitiveness of the Czech Republic.
