Joint Statement

We, the representatives of the Czech Rectors Conference and the Director General of Czech Radio, speak jointly as representatives of institutions that have long helped shape the public sphere in the Czech Republic. We are united by our responsibility for the quality of public debate, the availability of verified information, and the promotion of democratic values.

Public service media make a fundamental contribution to awareness, cultural identity, and media literacy, and they are a key partner of the academic community in communicating expert knowledge and leading public discussion.

The Czech Rectors Conference supports independent and predictable funding of public service media to ensure the quality of this public service. The educational and popularization roles of public service media are from the perspective of higher education institutions indispensable.
